Our Staff

  Our Staff at Camp Seggie is handpicked from a number of applicants each year. Our Jr Cabin Leaders are 14-15 and our Sr Cabin Leaders are 16-23. We hire up to 45 staff each summer enabling us to have a  Being a Camp Counsellor is one of the toughest jobs a young person can have, but its also one of the most rewarding and fun. We choose our staff based on their enthusiasm, maturity, leadership skills and passion for Christ. New Cabin Leaders complete our Leaders In Training program which develops the foundation of communication, spiritual growth, and problem solving which are integral to Camp Seggie staff. We know our cabin leaders are on the front lines with our campers so they are supported by a large Leadership staff to help them be the best they can be. “Camp is my home away from home. Why Camp?

Why Camp?

On the surface you may see Summer Camp as a fun place to go or send your kids to. A place for campfires and silly songs. But beneath the surface there are so many things that kids learn while attending summer camp. Camp teaches children to try new things. Many kids who attend camp will never have climbed a rock wall before, shot an arrow or sung at the top of their lungs to drown out the competition. Its a privilege to watch campers come out of their shell over the course of one short week. Since campers get to experience so many different activities in one day they may discover something they are passionate about or something they excel at that they hadn’t tried before. Camp fosters leadership and personal growth. Removed from their typical social group and usual authorities like parents and teachers, kids may be put in leadership roles they aren’t typically. Whether they are shy and reserved or outgoing and energetic, camp offers a unique and safe opportunity to step out of their comfort zones and try out a new role they may not have tried before.   parents report that after their child returns home from camp they are kinder, more caring, respectful, and have a greater awareness of the importance of giving and more readily take responsibility.
