Why Camp?

Why Camp?

On the surface you may see Summer Camp as a fun place to go or send your kids to. A place for campfires and silly songs. But beneath the surface there are so many things that kids learn while attending summer camp. Camp teaches children to try new things. Many kids who attend camp will never have climbed a rock wall before, shot an arrow or sung at the top of their lungs to drown out the competition. Its a privilege to watch campers come out of their shell over the course of one short week. Since campers get to experience so many different activities in one day they may discover something they are passionate about or something they excel at that they hadn’t tried before. Camp fosters leadership and personal growth. Removed from their typical social group and usual authorities like parents and teachers, kids may be put in leadership roles they aren’t typically. Whether they are shy and reserved or outgoing and energetic, camp offers a unique and safe opportunity to step out of their comfort zones and try out a new role they may not have tried before.   parents report that after their child returns home from camp they are kinder, more caring, respectful, and have a greater awareness of the importance of giving and more readily take responsibility. Everyone remembers their first summer camp counsellor and the role they play is key in character...

In chapel times we learned about the Armour of God and how we can be strong in the Lord. Winter Camp is always such a great time to connect with campers and staff again and to introduce new friends to Camp too! A big thanks to all of the staff who made Winter Camp such a success this...
